A quick look at the scheme

When we talk about accelerated development, we mean exactly that. Lasting just nine months, the Royal Mail Apprentice Scheme is fast-track vocational development programme which will help you achieve a City and Guilds (NVQ) Level 2 in Mail Services.

What you’ll be doing

On a daily basis, you’ll have the opportunity to find out all about our Mail Service operations – from collecting and processing the mail, through to delivering it to our customers. You’ll get to know how a national company works, and understand our business from the ground up.

What’s more, because your NVQ will help you to develop your interpersonal and communication skills alongside broadening your business knowledge – not only in operations but in other areas such as health and safety and customer service – you’ll find limitless career opportunities at Royal Mail when you finish your time as an apprentice.

Who we’re looking for

The kind of people who’ll benefit most from the Royal Mail Apprentice Scheme are those who’re looking for an opportunity which not only offers flexible working hours but also provides an extensive development programme.

Loads of enthusiasm, a passion for hard work and an ability to work on their own as well as in a team are all traits that will support success on the scheme.

Does this describe you or someone you know?

If so and you are a British National (or have been residing in the UK for more than three years) and have not taken part in any higher education qualification or are currently involved in any other government funded initiative then read on to find out more.

"I can remember being apprehensive and nervous before I started the apprentice scheme, I shouldn’t have worried though, as the other apprentices were all very friendly, and I had great support from the trainers, mentors and coaches."
